One thing that always comes up at some point in any search
engine optimization training course or program is content.
Without it, there's no real way to fully maximize your
websites potential to rank highly in the search engines.
To experienced search engine optimizers, it is a truism.
Neophyte practitioners will come across this axiom sooner
rather than later. In SEO, CONTENT IS KING. Your content
is the key ingredient that determines how your website
ranks in search engine result pages (SERP). The sooner
you grasp this, the faster you will succeed in your search
engine optimization efforts.

To appreciate what makes content so vital, you need to
comprehend the whys and wherefores of search engines.
People use search engines such as Google and Yahoo to
find information they need. Utilizing programs called
bots, search engines crawl the internet to deliver to
searchers the sources of information they are looking for.
Because search engines aim to bring the best possible
experience for their users, they look for sites that have
the information most relevant to a specific search. By
scouring web pages and websites regularly and continuously,
search engine crawlers or spiders - as bots are
alternatively called - are able to determine whether
the information on a webpage is original, if the
information on the page matches the searcher's keywords,
and other factors that enable them to list the most
relevant information on top of the results pages.

Not only does a website's content have to be relevant,
it needs to be original in order to rank high on SERPs.
As a searcher, one of the most annoying things for me
is going to sites that churn out out the same content
as multiple other sites. I like sites that present not
just comprehensive coverage of the topic I'm searching
for but also have a unique perspective on it. When I
find sites such as these, I bookmark and often recommend
them to others. In effect, this is what search engines
do also. Search engines take note of the first incidence
that content is produced and give ranking points to the
producing sites. They also recognize if the content is
used by other websites in the same industry, viewing the
original content site as a leader. Websites that have
nothing but regurgitated content receive lower rankings
from search engines as they are not considered the primary
source.

In our era of mass information, it has become more difficult
to come up with original and unique content, especially if
your industry is a vast one. A good idea is to find a
specialized niche in your field in which you can become
an expert. If you are enthusiastic about your chosen niche
and have a passion for your industry, then producing one-of
-a-kind content should not be a problem. People will like
going to your website, not just for the accurate information
they get but also because it stands out from other sites in
the same industry or niche. It is important also to produce
fresh content on a periodic basis. A good way to achieve this
is by writing blog posts.

But remember, original content is not the only goal. You can
have original content but it can be complete balderdash to
the seeker. Make sure that you present high-quality, useful
content in your website. If your information is not usable
to your searcher, then it's going to end up inutile for you
as well for the purpose of search engine optimization.

What you're after is a win-win situation. Present your reader
with high-quality, unique and relevant content on a regular
basis and watch your search engine rankings climb.
