the process of promoting your website if you expect it to do <br />

fail because they do not get enough quality traffic on a <br />
consistent basis. <br />

There are literally billions of websites on the Internet today. <br />
Depending on the niche your small business is in you could be <br />

Therefore it's not just enough to build a really attractive <br />
website. It is important to have your website properly set up, <br />

One thing I've seen over the years is how many people spend <br />
time tweaking their website as opposed to actually promoting <br />
it. You see this in discussion forums all the time. <br />

People are asking for comments about changes they made to <br />
their website. Making changes is actually easy to do because <br />
once you have a site put up a you can make changes to it <br />
anytime you want. <br />

Many people mistakenly think they are working on their business <br />
when they' are constantly making changes to their site. In <br />
reality no matter how nice looking it is you are not going to <br />
make money online, or convert any of your visitors, if you do <br />
not have visitors coming to it. <br />

Here are 3 proven ways that continue to work today for Internet <br />
marketing a small business website. <br />

1. Paid advertising. Pay per click advertising works. The key <br />
is whether you can make it work on a budget you can afford. <br />
<br />
Google Adwords still dominates this category. Yahoo marketing <br />
comes in a close second. PPC advertising is not something <br />
that should be done half heartedly. You certainly should <br />
spend time learning some of the ins and outs before jumping <br />
in with both feet. <br />

2. SEO keywords. Some businesses have an advantage when it <br />
comes to ranking for specific keywords. <br />
<br />
For example, affiliate marketing targeting longtail keywords <br />
still works for search engine optimization. So is promoting <br />
a local business and ranking quickly for specific keywords <br />
including the type of business, and the city it's in. <br />

3. Backlinks. This is still a barometer search engines use <br />
to rank websites. <br />
<br />
It's worth spending a little bit of time to learn what <br />
Google wants in terms of backlinks now. Some links do not <br />
work as well as they used to and might even actually hurt <br />
you. Links from education sites, and relevant do follow <br />
blogs are a good way to go right now. <br />

These are a few tips on Internet marketing your small business <br />
website. This is something you have to continue to work at <br />
depending on how much competition you face for your specific <br />
niche. <br />
