Affiliate marketing has matured over the years. It is now a <br />
more sophisticated business model than it used to be. This <br />
means that for you to make money you must become more educated <br />
on how to do affiliate marketing. <br />

If you expect to succeed as an affiliate marketer online <br />
today here are 7 things you are going to need to learn how <br />
to do! <br />
<br />
1. Finding a niche. This is not hard because just about <br />
anything you can think of has affiliate programs you can join. <br />
<br />
The key today is to find a niche you can compete in. This <br />
means doing research for niches that are not saturated with <br />
competitors. One way around that is to promote products that <br />
people are searching for by name as opposed to promoting <br />
keyword phrases in general. <br />
<br />
2. Doing keyword research. Google has a free tool you can <br />
use to come up with keywords that people are searching for. <br />
There are also many excellent free and paid tools. Traffic <br />
Travis comes to mind. <br />
<br />
3. Building a website. You will need to buy a domain name. <br />
Choose a dot com version and keep it relevant to the theme <br />
your site is based on. <br />
<br />
Host it at a good company such as Blue Host or Host Gator. <br />
Use the Fantastico program to set up a blog as your site. <br />
This is very easy to do. <br />
<br />
4. Adding content. You will need to write, or hire someone <br />
to write original content at first. <br />
<br />
Depending on the theme of your site you may get away with no <br />
more than 3 to 5 articles of 400-500 words. Auto blogging has <br />
become a good way to get content without doing all of the <br />
work yourself. <br />
<br />
5. Finding affiliate programs. Start by joining eBay, Amazon, <br />
and Clickbank. For ppc programs join Google Adsense. For CPA <br />
programs check out Max Bounty, Offer Vault and Commissions <br />
Junction. <br />
<br />
6. Monetizing your site. Get a couple of banner and text ads <br />
placed on your site. Over time you can add to this. Content <br />
and traffic is more important at first. Without it no one <br />
will see your affiliate products anyway. <br />
<br />
7. Promotion. I would suggest looking at Blog Blueprint as a <br />
very good training program on promoting your site. For free <br />
info join the Warrior Forum. The majority of your time will <br />
spent on advertising and marketing your site, so you need <br />
to learn how to do it. <br />
<br />
The days of promoting your affiliate website directly are <br />
over. Affiliate programs provide great advertising tools, <br />
but you need your own websites to send people to. <br />
<br />
This means you have to become more sophisticated in how you <br />
do affiliate marketing. The good news is anyone with average <br />
intelligence and a solid work ethic can do it. The rewards <br />
make the initial effort worth taking the time to learn how <br />
to do it right. <br />
