Setting goals is really easy, but most of us fail with the <br />
follow-through because of the effort required or because of <br />
the many other distractions that are part of modern life.<br />
<br />
We can't save enough money to take our "dream vacation", <br />
find enough time to read that Time Management book or <br />
remember where we put the one about improving our memory. <br />
<br />
Those excuses don't apply anymore.<br />
<br />
This article shows how to start using a simple system that <br />
has helped thousands to get whatever they needed to improve <br />
their business or become more successful in other areas of <br />
their lives.<br />
<br />
Please write down on paper or in your Word processor all <br />
the goals, big and small, that you would like to achieve.<br />
<br />
Let your mind run f.ree, without the restriction of available <br />
money, time or other factors.<br />
<br />
That can be fun but it's also a small first step to waking <br />
up your subconscious which   will be  valuable partner in <br />
your campaign to achieve your Goals in 2008 and beyond.<br />
<br />
If your list has only a few items, you're probably not <br />
dreaming big enough! Most people have a few things about <br />
their job or business, the home they live in and how they <br />
spend their spare time which they want to improve. <br />
<br />
Okay, now you can sort through your dreams (apprentice <br />
goals) and select the top half dozen which would make <br />
your life better; new car, new home, new country - <br />
whatever it will take.<br />
<br />
They are the ones which we'll focus on but you will <br />
probably also find some lesser goals that may only <br />
require minor effort like sacrificing your television <br />
watching time to learning a new language or becoming <br />
a better cook.<br />
<br />
That's an immediate benefit of writing down all your goals.<br />
<br />
Then, we start clearing the decks so that we can tackle <br />
the major targets.<br />
<br />
You must review how important each goal on your full list <br />
is to you?<br />
<br />
If there are any which you have taken on because someone <br />
else thought that you should but which you don't feel any <br />
direct benefit from, then you should consider dropping it.<br />
<br />
You won't be giving it the level of attention it may need  <br />
or, if you are applying yourself to it just out of a sense <br />
of obligation, it could be having a negative effect on <br />
your well-being and your performance in other tasks.<br />
<br />
Now, you are ready to plan your first campaign with a much <br />
greater chance of success.<br />
<br />
Saying, "I will increase my sales by 35% within 6 months" <br />
sounds good but, without getting a clear idea of the steps <br />
you must take to achieve that, the statement is a wish, <br />
not a goal.<br />
<br />
Set out the steps that you need to get to your target in <br />
a way that you can handle.<br />
<br />
A plan that someone else used may have some points that <br />
will be helpful for you but you must adapt what you read <br />
or are told to your own circumstances and desires.<br />
<br />
